Your Role: Associate Director – Highways Infrastructure

We’re looking for a senior highways engineer to lead and manage complex infrastructure projects from early concept through to delivery. Your technical expertise, leadership, and commercial insight will be key to successful outcomes.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and oversee the design, procurement, and delivery of highways infrastructure projects.

  • Manage and mentor engineering teams, helping to guide their development.

  • Handle project budgets, risk management, and contract administration (NEC, JCT).

  • Build strong relationships with clients, local authorities, and contractors.

  • Support business development, including preparing bids and securing work.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and health & safety regulations (e.g., CDM 2015).

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards), ideally via ICE.

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (BEng/BSc or MEng).

  • Around 12+ years in highways engineering, including 3+ years in a senior or leadership role.

  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.

  • Experience managing teams and liaising with multiple stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Experience across both public and private sector projects.

  • Business development or bid-writing experience.

  • ICE-registered mentor or interest in supporting future engineers.

Location & Flexibility

  • Based in Leeds city centre office, with a minimum of three days in-office per week.

  • Occasional travel to sites and client meetings.

  • Flexible/hybrid working options available.
