As a Principal Ecologist, you’ll play a pivotal role in our team’s success. Responsibilities include:

Leading and developing the Inverness ecology team.

Planning and assigning team tasks, overseeing quality, managing performance, and providing support.
-
Collaborating with our Ecology Manager and Principal consultant in the north of England for seamless team integration and technical excellence.
What our client is seeking:

A BSc and/or MSc in Ecology or a related discipline.
-
Membership in a relevant professional body like CIEEM.
Your qualifications:
-
Habitat surveys (Phase 1, UKHab, NVC).
-
European Protected Species survey and licensing.
-
Ornithology.
-
Leading and managing project teams.
-
EIA and HRA report production.
-
GIS proficiency.
-
Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW).
-
Ecological project management.
-
Effective communication.
Your previous experience:
-
A strong grasp of Scottish wildlife legislation, ecological surveys, and the planning process.

Expertise in ecological survey and assessment (plants/habitats, birds, protected species).
-
Robust project management across diverse types.
-
Experience as an ECoW or Environment Manager.
-
The leadership of ecology project teams.
-
Proficient report writing and client communication.
-
EIA chapter and HRA report writing.
-
Budget management and financial reporting.
-
Line management/supervision of junior staff.
