Our client has an opportunity for a Principal Water Resources Engineer or Hydrologist to join their UK and Ireland Mine Water team on a full-time, permanent basis in one of their multiple Irish and UK offices.
Our clients UK and Irish Mine Water team is formed of surface water, groundwater and geochemistry professionals with expertise spanning from recent graduates to individuals with more than 30 years of knowledge . This presents an opportunity to work on projects internationally and learn from experienced colleagues with different areas of technical expertise and to mentor more junior team members. Our client contributes to all parts of the mining life cycle, from exploration and pre-feasibility through to mine closure.
This role is predominantly within the mining business, with the potential to also work with other local sectors including infrastructure and land development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage mining resources engineering projects from conception through completion.
- Develop and implement hydrologic and hydraulic models to support project objectives.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and hydrologists.
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to ensure project compliance and success.
- Prepare detailed reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and regulatory bodies.
- Conduct field investigations and data collection for hydrological studies.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in water resources engineering.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in water resources engineering or hydrology.
- Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM, MIKE SHE).
- Strong project management skills and experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
