Project Manager – Transportation

The Opportunity
An established engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its growing Transportation team. This role offers the opportunity to manage and deliver a diverse range of transport infrastructure projects across Ireland, including roads, rail, public transport and active travel schemes.
You will oversee projects from feasibility and preliminary design through to detailed design, statutory approvals, procurement and construction. You will be responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing project budgets and programmes, and ensuring that projects are delivered to the required technical, commercial and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the planning, design and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects across Ireland.
- Lead multidisciplinary design teams and coordinate project resources and deliverables.
- Oversee feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, and statutory processes, including EIAR and CPO requirements.
- Manage procurement activities and the preparation of tender submissions and contract documentation.
- Oversee contract administration under Public Works and/or NEC contracts.
- Manage construction supervision, commercial performance and project reporting.
- Develop and monitor project budgets, programmes and resource plans.
- Control project costs, manage risks and implement effective change control processes.
- Ensure engineering designs comply with relevant standards and deliver practical, buildable and cost-effective solutions.
- Maintain effective client relationships and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
About You
- Degree-qualified in Engineering (Level 8 or Level 9).
- Chartered Engineer.
- Relevant experience working within an engineering consultancy.
- Proven experience managing transportation infrastructure projects, preferably in Ireland.
- Strong technical knowledge of transportation design standards and their practical application.
- Experience across feasibility, design development, statutory approvals, procurement and construction.
- Familiarity with Public Works and/or NEC contracts.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage budgets, programmes, costs and change control.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Highly organised, flexible and proactive, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently or collaboratively.
