Job description

Our client is seeking to recruit a Senior Drainage Engineer to join their Infrastructure team in the Cork, Dublin or Carlow office. The post will suit candidates with a minimum of 7 years’ experience keen to apply their professional skills and experience in a busy and dynamic civil, structural and environmental engineering practice. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to acquire a broad range of professional skills and experiences with support from mentors across several disciplines. This position offers exposure to a number of project types within the company, as they have a broad spectrum of ongoing projects and can offer the successful candidate a clear path for career development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of drainage systems for highways, wind and solar farms, urban developments and other infrastructure projects
  • Lead the hydrological and flood risk assessment for various sites
  • Working knowledge of modelling software such as Micro Drainage, Causeway Flow and/or Autodesk Storm and Sewer
  • Act as a member of the design team, helping to ensure projects are delivered to the timescales, quality and costs agreed with the client
  • Planning and managing CAD documentation working closely with Engineering Technicians
  • Attend onsite meetings with the client and other professionals
  • Ensure compliance with our Quality Assurance and Management Systems
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant health and safety legislation
  • Coordinating his/her work with other members of the project team

Skills / Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or another relevant degree
  • Minimum 7 years of post-graduate experience
  • Chartered Engineer status preferred
  • Experienced in the design of highway drainage systems including SuDs
  • Experience working in a Consulting Engineering or similar company
  • Excellent communication, management, analytical and organisational skills required
  • Experience working and coordinating with technical specialists and engineers
  • Efficient work methods, functioning both as part of the team and on own initiative
  • Experience organizing and delivering complex tasks involving multiple parties within a short timeframe
  • The ability to adapt and work with new procedures and systems quickly
  • Must be prepared to travel to site visits and client meetings
  • Full Drivers Licence
