We are currently seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our client’s Environment team, based in Dublin (with the option of hybrid working). In this role, you will collaborate with engineers, environmental scientists, and other staff on our portfolio of infrastructure projects in Ireland, with a focus on water and transport sectors, as well as specialist ecology projects.
Desirable Skills/Attributes:

A degree in ecology or a related subject.

Minimum of five years of post-graduate experience.

Membership in CIEEM or an equivalent professional body is desirable.

Experience in environmental consultancy is desirable but not required.

Desirable experience in phase 1 habitat survey and invasive species field survey, as well as strong botanical skills.

Competency in ornithology, terrestrial mammals, and/or bats will also be considered.

Detailed knowledge of Appropriate Assessment legislation within Ireland is required.

GIS experience is desirable.

A full clean driver’s license.
Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will have an excellent understanding of all regulatory and statutory requirements related to ecology/biodiversity in Ireland.

Prepare high-quality reports, including Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA), and biodiversity chapters for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR), as well as Appropriate Assessments.

Conduct ecological field surveys and provide mentoring to less experienced staff.

Design and coordinate ecology surveys, including ecology staff and sub-consultants.

Interpret ecological monitoring data.

Manage data using GIS tools (QGIS, MapInfo, or ArcGIS) if applicable.

Engage with external stakeholders as necessary.

Deliver work to the highest standards and continuously strive to improve its quality.
