About the company: Gaia’s client is a leading engineering department operating within the water and wastewater sector in Ireland. Currently, we are seeking a skilled Senior Engineer to join their Civil, Design Build, Water Team (CDBW) department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage and deliver key water and wastewater capital infrastructure projects for a range of clients, contributing to the entire project lifecycle from planning to handover stages.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop preliminary designs and feasibility studies during the concept design stage.
- Prepare route and site selection reports to ensure optimal project outcomes.
- Create design drawings, technical reports, and calculations that meet project requirements.
- Prepare contract documents and specifications for efficient project delivery.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients throughout all project stages, ensuring timely and high-quality design and contract outputs.
- Lead and manage a team of Graduate, Design, and Project Engineers, providing mentorship and technical guidance.
- Coordinate a multidisciplinary team within our organization to ensure seamless integration of environmental, planning, hydrogeological, and structural inputs to the design.
- Procure Site Investigation and Building and Civil Engineering Contracts, and when applicable, prepare pricing schedules and Bills of Quantities.
- Conduct construction stage inspections and generate associated reports to monitor progress and quality.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing effective risk management strategies.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration within our teams and with key clients.
- Administer construction contracts to ensure successful delivery within design requirements, project schedules, and budget.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships to facilitate successful project delivery.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments, innovations, and the latest technology utilized by consulting engineering professionals.
- Ensure compliance with and contribute to the further development of the company’s quality assurance procedures and plans.
Skills Required of a Senior Engineer:
- 7 – 10 years of experience in a similar role, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in delivering water/wastewater projects in Ireland.
- A Level 8 Honors Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal (English) communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of water/wastewater engineering standards and regulations.
- Working knowledge of relevant software packages, including Microsoft Project.
- Familiarity with construction contracts such as FIDIC.
- Proven ability to lead teams, deliver complex projects, and build strong client relationships.
