Senior Environmental Consultant – Environmental Compliance & Circular Economy

We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Consultant to take a leading role in the delivery of environmental compliance, auditing and regulatory programmes across Ireland.

This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional who enjoys combining programme management, technical environmental expertise, client engagement and team leadership. Based in the Greater Dublin area, you will manage high-profile environmental programmes, work closely with clients and regulators, undertake compliance audits and inspections, and support the development of a growing environmental consultancy offering.

The Role

As Senior Environmental Consultant, you will act as a trusted technical advisor and programme manager for key environmental compliance contracts.
A significant element of the role will involve managing a national environmental audit programme, acting as the principal client contact, coordinating resources and programme delivery, and undertaking compliance audits across Ireland.
You will also support regulatory inspection programmes, ensuring activities are delivered consistently, professionally and in accordance with relevant environmental legislation and contractual requirements.
Alongside programme delivery, you will contribute to client development, identify opportunities to expand existing services and mentor a small team of environmental professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Lead major environmental compliance programmes and act as the primary contact for key client accounts.
Manage programme budgets, resources, schedules, deliverables and performance.
Plan, coordinate and undertake environmental compliance audits and inspections throughout Ireland.
Ensure consistency and quality across audit reports, compliance assessments and regulatory deliverables.
Interpret environmental legislation and provide clients with practical compliance advice.
Review environmental data and regulatory submissions to identify potential compliance risks.
Build strong relationships with clients, regulators, industry representatives and other stakeholders.
Present audit findings, compliance issues and recommendations clearly to clients and regulatory stakeholders.
Manage, mentor and support environmental consultants, helping develop their technical and professional capability.
Identify opportunities for service improvement, programme expansion and wider business development.

About You

You will be an experienced environmental professional who is comfortable combining technical delivery with project leadership and stakeholder management.

You should have:

A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability, Engineering or a related discipline.
Significant experience within environmental consultancy, environmental compliance, regulatory programmes or a related field.
Experience managing environmental projects, programmes or client contracts.
Practical experience undertaking environmental audits, inspections or compliance assessments.
Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.
Excellent client relationship, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Experience managing, mentoring or supporting other environmental professionals.
Strong report-writing, organisational and project-management capabilities.
A full clean driving licence and willingness to travel throughout Ireland, approximately 25% of working time.
Experience with Extended Producer Responsibility schemes, circular economy initiatives, regulated waste streams, EPA or local authority engagement, Lead Auditor activities, national audit programmes or Environmental Impact Assessment would be particularly advantageous.
