Senior Health & Safety Consultant

About the Role

An established environmental and planning consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Health & Safety Consultant to join its growing team in Galway on a hybrid basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Health & Safety professional to take a leadership role in delivering construction safety, occupational health and safety, and advisory services across a diverse portfolio of renewable energy and construction projects.

The successful candidate will also contribute to the continued development of the Health & Safety team, strengthen client relationships and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead construction Health & Safety consultancy services, including acting as Project Supervisor for the Design Process (PSDP).
  • Deliver Occupational Health & Safety consultancy and advisory services.
  • Conduct Health & Safety audits, inspections and reviews.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Review contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Support the development and implementation of Health & Safety training programmes.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across projects and teams.
  • Lead the growth and development of Health & Safety services in Galway.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Contribute to business development and identify opportunities for service growth.

About You

  • Third-level qualification in Safety and Health or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in a Health & Safety role.
  • Proven experience delivering Health & Safety consultancy services.
  • Experience fulfilling the PSDP role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction Health & Safety requirements and legislation.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections and accident/incident investigations.
  • Experience reviewing contractor risk assessments and method statements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

  • PSDP training.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification.
  • QQI Level 6 Manual Handling Instructor qualification.
  • SOLAS-accredited Safe Pass Trainer qualification.
  • Business development experience.
  • Experience working on renewable energy projects.
