We are currently seeking experienced Senior & Project Ecologists to join our growing Ecology Team within the Environment and Planning Division. This is an excellent opportunity to work on nationally recognized projects and studies. The Ecology Team consists of qualified and enthusiastic ecologists who handle a diverse project load for private and public sector clients. We generate work through well-established nationwide client relationships and collaborate internally with other Engineering Divisions within our organization.
Core Competency:
The successful candidates must have the ability to work in and lead teams in collecting field data and preparing the Biodiversity/Flora & Fauna sections of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs), Ecological Impact Assessment reports, and Habitats Directive Appropriate Assessment reporting. Project experience in designing and implementing ecological surveys, including habitat, bird, and protected species surveys, data analysis, and impact assessments is required. Additionally, demonstrated experience across various ecological disciplines is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities:
As Senior & Project Ecologists, you will collaborate with our existing Ecology team on ecological and environmental aspects of diverse projects, including national infrastructure, renewable energy, and private commercial ventures. Responsibilities will include providing ecological input for desktop studies, scoping studies, site selection, site surveys, Ecological Impact Assessments, Appropriate Assessment Reports, and overseeing the implementation of construction mitigation measures (Ecological Clerk of Works). The role will also involve project management tasks, such as financial management, producing fee proposals, and participating in tendering processes.
Qualifications/Experience Required:

Relevant primary degree (Hons.) in Ecology/Environmental Biology (additional qualifications preferred)

Proven track record in ecological work

Demonstrated ecological field skills

Experience in drafting EIAR chapters, AA Screening, and NIS Reports

Experience with GIS systems (e.g., ArcView) is desirable, but not essential, as we have specialist GIS services in-house

Preferred membership in CIEEM (or ambition to become a member)

Experience coordinating ecological impact assessments, project management, and engaging with clients and stakeholders

Excellent report writing and communication skills

Physical fitness and willingness to undertake fieldwork as required
